Carol Paterson Smith – Minister of Foreign Affairs

Carol has an MA in European Studies and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. Due to her extensive financial background in raising capital for funds across Europe and the Middle East, she has widespread relationships and vast experience in the global arena.

Carol is a founding partner of Arno Capital, which works with UHNWI and institutional clients across different asset classes and services (hedge funds, real estate, private equity, art, security & intelligence).

Carol began her career in finance in 2000 at Scudder Investments. She then worked in sales for the GAM funds of hedge funds. Before founding Arno, she was previously Head of Hedge Fund Clients for Rothschild for 8 years, having built the marketing business there and covered clients globally ex-France. She has raised capital from all client segments; family offices, pension funds, SWFs, and private clients.

She is a founding member of the Singapore Chapter of 100 Women in Hedge Funds and has served as Asia Director for Rubeus Limited. Carol also speaks French and Spanish and is learning Bahasa. She is a keen martial artist, studying muay thai and Brazilian jiu jitsu. Before being appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Principality Monte de Agrella, Carol was based in Singapore.

Among many accolades, Carol has been profiled in the Glass Hammer’s “35 Under 35”and was a finalist the 2010 Women of the Future Awards, Businesswoman of the Future and the Women in the City Future Leaders Award 2010.
